Taylor Swift is officially entering in a new era!
The global superstar officially announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and may have hinted at key collaborators in the process.
Alongside the announcement of her new album, Swift rolled out a Spotify playlist titled And, baby, that’s show business for you. The collection includes 22 previously released tracks, each produced by Max Martin and Shellback, prompting fans to wonder if the celebrated producers are also behind her forthcoming project.
Martin and Shellback previously worked with Swift for the Red, 1989, and Reputation albums. They’re responsible for helping her develop her pop sound after beginning her career as a country artist. Some of Taylor‘s biggest hits produced by the duo are “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “I Knew You Were Trouble,” “22,” “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Bad Blood,” “Style,” and “Don’t Blame Me.”
Interestingly, Jack Antonoff, a frequent creative partner in recent years, appears to be missing from this phase of her work, suggesting a possible change in the sonic direction and makeup of her production team.
On Tuesday, Swift officially confirmed a new album is on the way, putting an end to days of speculation. The buzz started on Monday, August 11, when fans noticed a mysterious countdown clock added to her official website, fueling theories that a fresh musical chapter was about to begin.
When the timer hit zero at exactly 12:12 a.m. Eastern on August 12, her online store unveiled The Life of a Showgirl for pre-order. Fans can secure copies in vinyl, CD, and cassette formats. While the official release date has yet to be revealed, the site notes that physical editions are expected to ship ahead of October 13.
